Myriad STS
|
Myriad STS (Split Transmission System) expands the
standard Myriad package to allow it to provide split advertising and
branding to diverse transmission paths or geographic areas or to
allow Myriad to fit in to and interact with networked programming.
The idea for split transmission is simple, all the
music, speech, non-networked jingles etc are played in from the
studio Myriad system in the normal way but all split advert breaks
and split jingles are played by the Myriad STS pc's with one STS
system per split (see diagram).

When a split advert break or split jingle is needed,
the central Myriad system instructs the STS's machines to play the
appropriate split jingle or advert break and then effectively waits
for STS to tell it that it has finished. All this is done using real
time, two way communication over TCP/IP or alternatively, in a
passive way using hardware events (if no network connectivity is
available).
You can also use variation on Myriad STS (called
Myriad STS Network) for playing local content as part of a wider
'networked' show. Typically, this would involve the bulk of the
shows content being provided from a remote site with information and
commands about what local content to play being transmitted along
side the audio. In the example diagram below, the audio originates
at one site and the audio is distributed along with RS232 (serial)
commands over a satellite channel. In this example, STS Network
systems located around the country, 'listen' to the commands coming
from the central network and play local content when instructed.

This type of configuration allows a number of sites
share the common audio but still play some local content and
advertisements. Myriad STS Network can be configured to respond to
any RS232 commands so it can be integrated in to existing
network infrastructures without having to alter the other sites.
Myriad STS and Myriad STS Network offer a range of
exciting opportunities to localise your content without compromising
creativity or flexibility. For more details on Myriad STS and how it
